Corrupted control bitmaps.

After running chkdsk under WinXP home, a number of controls (e.g. radio
buttons and checkboxes) no longer display correctly. As far as I can
tell, there's no log so I can't find out what chkdsk did. Are the
control visuals stored as bitmaps or drawn programmatically? What
file(s) are they stored in? (comctl32.*? shell32.dll?) Hopefully
restoring the files will fix the display issues. Any other suggestions?

Thanks for any leads.
