Somehow my windows profile got corrupted. When I restarted windows it asked
me if I wanted to go back to the last good profile. Now all my programs and
settings are gone! What can I do to get things back to the way they were?

Too late. I tried to run Windows Emergency Repair and it totally ruined
everything. All I get now is a black screen with a flashing cursor. Even
GoBack can't recover it.

Sounds like the drive may have failed. Download and run a diagnostic utility
from the drive manufacturer's web site.

I, and I think others on different threads, had the same problem right after
getting the most recent windows updates. After restarting it gave me an
error message (didn't record it - corrupt profile or something?) then a brand
spanking new admistrator profile. I'm running 2000 pro. I found the
administrator.bak folder but don't know how to restore it. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mark
