hi,
i have a link in my Outlook folders list that I can't open or close. It
doesn't seem to be pointing to anything.
is there a way to clear this folder list by deleting a file?

Could you describe more clearly what you mean and include your Outlook
version?

Hi Russ, Thanks!
I am using XP, Outlook 2003.
The folder list in the navigation pane shows a .PST file open that doesn't
actually exist. When I go to click and open it, it gives me an error of can't
open the file. All the help links that it refers to do not help.
I've tried deleting in ../applications/microsoft/outlook the .xml file but
it doesn't help.

Can you R click on the file and close it?
If not, then you have a corrupt profile, to which Outlook 2003 is very prone
when you do not migrate Outlook data the way it wants you to. Any idea what
you did to create this situation?
The usual fix is simply to create a new profile, then make sure you migrate
your data only the way Outlook wants you to:
