Corrupt Internet Explorer

I am helping my sister with a problem with Internet Explorer. She has Windows
ME. When she goes on the internet with Internet Explorer she gets this error
message: Error has occurred. Press Enter to get back to Windows, or Press
Ctrl, Alt, Delete to restart the computer. Error 0D:0000:0000FA16. It looks
like her Internet Explorer is corrupted. We ran the Fix Internet Explorer
Tool and also reinstalled Windows ME but neither fixed the problem. We also
reinstalled Internet Explorer. I tried to uninstall it before I reinstalled
it but I couldn’t do it. She is never able to use Internet Explorer. Any help
is appreciated. Larry

I am not sure if the following is applicable to you or not.
Probably you would want to wait for responses from MVP.

Something similar happened to my Win98 machine at home just a few days ago,
after I have installed two Windows updates.

When I was online (with modem), and when I tried to open IE, I got the blue
screen.
(When I was not online, I was able to open IE without any problem.)

Somehow, this blue screen problem went away after I un-installed KB891711.
(Control Panel -> Add or Remover Software; and msconfig -> Startup)

That is the same thing that happened to my sister. This all started after she
downloaded some Windows updates. Now when she goes online she gets the blue
screen with the error message. Can you give me more details on how you solved
your problem? What is KB891711? Is that the Windows update? Was it also in
your startup list? Thanks for the reply, Larry
