Corrupt Desktop and Folder Icons in Vista Beta 2

I installed Vista Beta 2 and as soon as it loaded all the icons came up
properly but now for some strange reason the desktop icons lost that shortcut
arrow and then the desktop Computer and Recycle Bin icons turned into a
generic shortcut icon and now the folder and most icons in the C drive are
the generic shortcut icons as found in XP when first creating a shortcut. Any
help to get these icons back to normal would be appreciated!

Have you tried right clicking on the desktop and selecting view? You can go
to classic icons or other. Maybe switching them will help.

I managed to get the desktop icons back simply by going to Change Desktop
Icons under Personalize and restore them to default.

For some reason though the stacked foler icons aren't showing up at all,
either in the start menu when clicking all programs and when using Windows
Explorer and clicking view, any folder icon from medium icons->small icons
and also the Detailed view will become a genric box instead of properly
showing a folder icon. I tried to find a method to refresh but with no luck.

Can anyone help out? Here's my problem posted somewhere else:

I've come into another icon related problem, the default/plain Vista folder
with no pictures shown cannot be found unless it is listed under Tiles,
Medium, Large and Extra Large Icons. A default generic box will show in place
of the folder when the View is set to Medium->Small Icons and Detailed Icon
View. The folder icons is also missing for the folders found in the start
menu.

I'm starting to wonder if maybe my shell32.dll file is corrupt, the plain
folder icon is missing from the dll file when going to Properties->Customize
tab after right-clicking on one of the folder icons but it still shows up
when the icon is enlarged. If I was to change let's say the Program Files
folder which is a generic box as of now when set to the specific views, if I
was to switch it into a printer icon and then go to restore default, the icon
will turn into a generic box instead of a fodler icon as should be done.
