corrupt cd rom driver

xp is not seeing my cdrw drive and is telling me the
driver in xp is corrupt or missing. how do i correct this
as i can not reload xp without the cdrw???

Run the provided registry patch

That should fix your problem (basically, a filter driver is missing or
non-operational, the registry patch will delete the filter drivers
references for your cdrom(s))

The CD should not need any particular drivers. I would uninstall the drive
in Device manager, and then reboot. It may re-load it correctly that way.

If you have your XP CD, try booting to the CD (you may have to change a BIOS
setting to do this - email if you need more info.) If you can boot to the
CD, then you know it's OK. If not, nothing you change in Windows is going
to help - the drive may be bad.
