Does a reboot put things back to normal, even temporarily?

nope not even a full system restore. I dont know enough about shell
extentions, seems like it could be that. The system works fine except windows
explore bar, search, and add/remove programs. all useable(except search,
nowhere to type anything in) but unreadable with the glitchy graphics. I
tried everything from swaping out graphics card to full system restore, only
thing i see is there is sopposed to be 512mb of ram. The system only reports
480. all my other HP's report 512. Thx for the reply.

I would bet its a conflict with onboard graphics where as 32 mb of ram is
unaccounted for.
