Correcting errors in the Volume Bitmap

Hello,

I built a Windows 2K Prof. system w/ an ECS K8T890-A MotherBoard
(quiet! no comments!) Maxtor SATA Drives in RAID 1 Config for O/S and
programs on a SIIG RAID Controller, EIDE HD Drives on MOBO Controllers
and on Promise 133 card. The sys is clocking at ~ 3.8 MHz I think, Dual
and @Gb memory. Frequent erratic breaks of mirror, "USB Device
Disconnect" messages ?? disk drives disappearing etc. I have replaced /
low level formated and replaced 6 so far. Replaced cables etc. as well.
Everything replaced, only thing left is MOBO, that probably should have
been my first action several months ago.

Preparing HD for MOBO swap, total size on all drives 8 volumes in 6
drives in all ~ 2TB. Size range 500Gb - 160 Gb, Vol size range 500 - 48
Gb. Ran Norton's disk utilities and scheduled chkdsk on non accessible
disks a 500 Gb and the two 298 Gb disks for mirror.

System on restart went into a
"Correcting errors in the Volume Bitmap" mode and has been running this
way for the last 46 hrs thereabout. I suspect it is on the 500 Gb Disk.
Should I expect this Correction to the Bitmap to take that long?

Thanks
