Cordless mouse will not let monitor sleep in power saver.

Just installed a Microsoft cordless 5000 mouse. My monitor will no longer
turn off in the power saver mode. I tried to make a new power saver setting
and that did not help. I can unplug the usb for the mouse transmitter and it
will start to work again. Plug it back in and the problem comes back. I can
plug in two other corded mouse's I have and they work fine with the monitor.
It just seems to be the cordless that keeps the monitor from turning off. I
am running Vista, I have screen saver set to none. It is just set up to turn
off the monitor after 10 minutes. Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I have just installed the same mouse on my computer and have the same
monitor issue. I can get it to turn off by unplugging the mouse from
the USB port - all other attempts to get the timer to work fail.
My solution was to go into MSCONFIG and under startup, turn off
Microsoft Intellipoint. Monitor functions seem to be ok now.

Try turning the mouse upside down.
This is not a joke.
