Hello,

I've tried several method suggested but so far I have yet to succeed on
this. I have often wanted to duplicate a user to a new profile EXACTLY -
where their desktop icons are, their e-mail profile, their favorites, their
screen resolution, the way a folder displays when opened, the buttons in
office, the way their search files preferences - in other words EVERYTHING
EXACTLY the same - is there any way to do this?

I know how to copy favorites, desktop, my documents, but that certainly
won't make folder behavior, desktop layout etc look and act the same. Is
there an easy way to do EVERYTHING?

An example might be if I get everything layed out just right for a default
user and I want to make everything the same for a new user ghosted from this
system. Another example might be if I change the domain a user logs into
it creates a new profile.

Thanks

F.A.S.T. or USMT come closest to what you want.

You might want to make a copy of the default user profile before you do
this. When you have your user profile set the way you want it to be, go to
My Computer/Properties/Advanced/ User Profiles and click the Settings
button. Select the profile of the user that you have set up. Click Copy To.
Browse to Local Disk (C):, Documents and Settings, DefaultUser and click OK
to replace the Default User. Click the button called Permitted to use. Add
Everyone so that any user who logs in will use the profile.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Thanks - I read through the basics, download it and can't tell if I'm doing
it right. It wasn't as intuitive to me as I would have hoped.

Can you give me an example as this is a LOT of switches for a newbie to get.
If I have a user set up EXACTLY the way I want. They are on the C: drive
and I want to make a duplicate of that user on that same computer - e.g.
user BOB is set up perfectly and when user MARY logs in, I want her profile
to look exactly like BOB's - How can I do this?

e.g. - what should I type for scanstate and load state?scanstate c:\store
/i:migapp.inf /i:migsys.inf /i:miguser.inf /i:sysfiles.inf /v:1 /x /s /f

It's trial and error. Without knowing exactly what you are doing no one
could you exact instructions. First few times with any tool there's a
learning curve.
