Copying user profiles and saving on new server

I have just rolled out a new Win2K Pro server and when I redirected all 2ooo
machines and users to the new server from the previous NT4.0 server, none of
the old profiles were present which included Outlook Express address books
and e-mails messages.

I have re-created all the user's desktops, but I would like to know how to
do this the easier way the next time.

Is this a DC or a TS box? Why do users have profiles on this server? If a
DC and you are going form nt4 to AD?
