Copying User Profile to a New Userid

I need to eliminate the userid "default" on an XP Pro machine and I am
trying to follow the instructions in "How to copy data from a corrupted user
profile to a new profile in Windows XP"

But in Documents and Settings there is no folder for "default". There is
one named "John Smith" (although I have no "John Smith" userid!) and its
Favorites correspond to what I see when I am logged in as "default".

Is it safe to proceed or does this discrepancy indicate such a serious
problem that I need to take another approach?

Thanks, Bob

Default is a hidden folder. To view hidden files and folders, on the
Tools menu in any folder window, click Folder Options. On the View tab,
under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files and folders.

Thanks Leonard. I had already done what you suggest. Based on the
Favorites content and other files in the "John Smith" folder I am convinced
that the userid "default" corresopnds to the Documents and Setting folder
"John Smith".

Thanks, Bob
