Copying my programs

I am trying to copy a program that I have on my computer.It is a dvd copying
program.I want to copy it to a cd so I can keep it for my new computer.I also
want to copy other programs.How do I do this.I went to backing up my files
but the main programs didn't appear.I need help.I have windows xp.

Copying programs is unlikely to succeed, as each machine has many
exclusive entries relating to O/S and hardware.

Instead, reinstall the programs, and then - if applicable - load your
stored user settings or personal files into those programs.

You can't copy an INSTALLED program. You need to copy the file(s) that you
installed it FROM.....
