Are your files and folders yelling at you and thus you thought yelling at us
would be okay?

Why the all uppercase lettering? You might notice that most publications
and such use a mixture of uppercase and lowercase lettering in a specific
pattern. It denotes many different things, but for the most part - it is
just easier to read.

Now - please give a lot more detail.

What disk are you trying to copy to? Is it an external disk you just
connected, a network disk you have mapped a share to, a CD/DVD or is it the
local C drive?

What operating system and service pack are you using?

You do not have to be a smart ass. Why do you think I went to Windows XP performance if I were using another OS? Folders are stored in my documents and most are music folders.

Just where was I a smart@$$? I pointed out something you seem to think was
acceptable might not be viewed as such and provided examples. Seems to me
that is 'teaching'. You might not take it as such because you are
frustrated - but I do see you took the advice and have typed in a more
legible (for most) fashion. I appreciate that.

I already *assumed* you had Windows XP - although many times people will
post here in any case (Windows 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, Vista, etc.) However -
you still have added pretty much nothing to your posting other than
confirming that you posted in a Windows XP group because you have Windows XP
and the location of the files you are having trouble copying (but to where,
in what manner?)

Let me rephrase with more leading information...

What operating system and service pack (specifically) are you running?

Hint: Use this to get us the details needed...
Start button --> RUN --> type in:
winver
--> Click OK.

The picture at the top of the window that opens will give you the general
(Operating System name) while the line starting with the word "version" will
give you the rest of the story. Post both in response to this message
verbatim. ;-)

So you have files/folders in your "My Documents"...

Are you trying to copy/move them within the same folder, to another folder
on the same hard disk drive/drive letter as your "My Documents" are stored
on, to an external hard disk drive you have hooked to the computer via
USB/Firewire/another source or are you trying to write these files to CD/DVD
in some manner?

In other words - how are you copying/moving these files? Where are you
copying/moving these files in relation to where they currently are?

Can you create new files/folders in the area you are attempting to copy to?
(Right-click, New...)

When was the last time you ran a CHKDSK on the media where the current files
are stored?

What about a defragmentation?

To get a considered answer you need to answer the questions Shenan is
asking? In particular where are you copying to?

Most errors are recorded in Event Viewer. Please copy the error report
here.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer.Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.
