copying files greater than one cd

Heywogr

Hi,

This may be a silly question, but I have a backup.bkf file of 2.91GB, and I
want to copy to CD-RW, which only has capacity of 702MB. Can I copy this to
multiple CD's, or do I have to get a USB drive bigger than this to take the
backup? When I try to copy, I get error message "you do not have enough space
on CD" etc, with no option to create multiple cd's

Cheers,
Heywogr

Depending on the software your using it may or may not offer to span
multiple disks, if your using XP's burning engine it will not. I would get a
DVD burner, they can be had for very cheap from newegg.com

I'm no computer expert...trust me. But what about zipping them up in a zip
file? I know it's reduced the size of files for me.

You can split the files into CD sized files using a file splitter program
and then brining with the windows burning software you have (the one I use
is no longer available online but the one I am giving the link to may work
OK.) Try http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/#win32 and see if this works for
you. I just downloaded it and tried it on a movie file (2.8 GB) and it
worked well splitting and rejoining..

If you have WinZip this program will also split files into CD sized pieces
automatically as it creates the ZIP file and also includes the program to
connect them back together.
