Copying ACCESS databases

I am a real newby. I have written a couple of small applications in ACCESS
that help me in my work, and several colleagues have asked me for copies. I
have supplied them, but the copies would not allow them to make any new
reports or macros. So they could not customize. Is there a way of making
copies of an application that allows for full customizing of the copy?

Paul,

If they have a version of Access that is the same or more recent than
yours, and if you supply them with the MDB (as distinct from a MDE),
they should be able to do design modifications.

Steve,

Thanks for the info. I have the Microsoft Office Access 2003 Bible by
Prague, Irwin and Reardon. Do you happen to know where in this publication I
can find the instructions to do that? I have been at it for some time now,
and can't find them. The index, unfortunately, has been of little help.

Many thanks, again!

Paul,

I have heard that this is a good book, but I don't have it myself.

Still, it should be easy to ascertain which version of Microsoft Access
your colleagues have installed on their computers. If it is a different
version than yours, please let us know which version you used to build
the application, and which version they have.

The other point I mentioned, mdb vs mde, you would presumably know. You
have to explicitly make an mde format, via the Tools/Database Utilities
menu, and you would know whether you had done that.

So there you go. So what exactly is the problem the other users are
experiencing?
