copy to new computer

I bought a new vista computer. I'd like to transfer my contact list, and
old emails (and also some files) from my old computer to the new one. The
machines are both hooked up to a router for usinging the internet. I assume
they are then, or can be, networked. Can any one help me to do this?

What operating system is the old computer running, and what email program
did you use on it?

Vista is on both, both use windows mail

That makes it easy.
Copy these folder folders on the "old" computer to the new computer
C:\Users\(yourlogin)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail
C:\Users\(youlogin)\Contacts

Networking them should be easy, as long as you gave them different names and
IP addresses.
You may have to share your user folder on the "old" computer.

It copies emails, folders, rules, accounts, settings, the whole thing.
