Copy to CD link in Explorer doesn't work

W

William Gilles

Recently my 'Copy to CD' / 'Copy all items to CD' link under picture tasks
(quick menu in my pitcures folder) stopped working properly.

Under normal operation when the link was clicked the files selected would be
copied to the temporary location (c:\documents and settings\<username>\local
settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning) and I would get a popup in
my system tray reminding me I had items to burn to CD.

Now when I click that link/ shortcut I only get a context menu (as if I had
right clicked a file) with options to copy, move, create shortcut here and
cancel. I've checked the IMAPI CD-Burning COM it is running and starts
automatically.

Any ideas?? I can always do a Windows repair but that would be last resort.

Thanks in Advance to all.

Hi William,

A third-party context-menu may be blocking the "Copy to CD" function in the
Common Tasks pane. For example, see: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/playall.htm

You can isolate the problem using ShellExView. Full instructions are
available at:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm (See "Method 2" in this
article)

Also, if you've added the "Copy To" and the "Move To" functions to the
context-menu either manually or using a third-party "tweak" program, see
this page as well:

Problem caused by adding Copy To and Move To as context menu entries:
