I'm running WinXP and I'm trying to fix this before installing SP2.
Yesterday I was trying to burn a CD, and I discovered that all reference to
XP's built-in CD writing function had disappeared, including the "Recording"
tab in my CD-RW drive's properties, links within folders to "Copy to CD", the
shortcut in the "Send to" menu, and the "Write these files to CD" and "Delete
temporary files" options in the CD-RW folder itself. If I tried to drag a
file to the drive, I got either a "Please insert a disc" message or a
"Read-only" one, depending on whether a disc was in the drive. I tried
burning a disc with Windows Media Player, and it worked. It's like the
Desktop CD Burning function just got uninstalled somehow.
Thanks in advance for any help with this!
