I recently lost the ability to copy to CD, I open "My Pictures" and in the

Click on Start, click on Run and type the following in the textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press the Enter key.
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...
This will take a second to run and should return the command.

Right click on one photo.
Click on Open with on the opening menu.
Click on Choose program at the bottom of the opening list.
A new list will open, select what you want. Probably Windows Picture and Fax
Viewer and check the box " Always...."

OK. You may have used some software like Roxio to copy music to CDs. If so
this software has taken over the XP function. Not a big problem.
Open My Computer and right click on your CD drive listed there. Click on
Properties. A window will open. Click on the Recording tab. Click on Enable
the drive...
This should now let you use XP to copy to CD. If you use Roxio again to copy
music to CD the same thing will happen. Just set it up again using the same
procedure of "Enable..."

Thankyou for your Patience,, Did what you suggested,, My Computer , clicked
on CD drive, then properties, screen that I get is "CD Drive (G:) Properties,
don't see a Recording tab,,, Tabs are "General", AutoPlay" and Hardware,,,
Note,, your note on using program such as Roxio,, I have and continue to be
able to write to this dirve with Drag'n Drop CD +DVD,and Click to DVD,, both
programs were included in the bundled software that came with the system,,,
the only new software I have change is my antivirus stuff ( norton works and
internet security) every thing else is as originally configure... thanks
again.

I have been told this before "There is no Recording tab" when sending these
directions, so you are not alone, but I don't know how to repair this. At
least you can copy your photos using Roxio.
It may be that you need to update the driver for this CD drive but I am
really not sure about this.

Thankyou,,, in looking at past problems I came across a reference to a
Micosoft Kowledge Base (kb) article (www.support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316529),
however this requires I modify the Registry,,, not sure on this,, hope you
might have some advice ...thanks. ps, don't have Roxio,,, sorry to mislead
you.

At this point I really don't know how to advise. I think you should start a
new post and tell us again what the problem is.

I just want to mention that it doesn't matter what software it is, Roxio, or
Nero, what ever CD burning software you may install (I have had both) , they
disable the built in Windows ability to "copy to CD" so the option does not
appear in the photo tasks. You may have installed some other software that
has disabled the "copy to CD" option, you should check on this and if you
want the option back you may have to un install the software that will over
ride the Windows "copy to CD" option

That is not true (at least for me). I have had Nero since version 5.5 up
through the current version and have never experienced this. I still
have the Windows XP option to copy files to CD (Windows XP SP1).
