Second submission of problem per recommendation;

Problem:
I recently lost the ability to copy to CD, I open "My Pictures" and in the
left hand frame under "Picture Tasks" Copy this folder To CD or Copy to CD
no longer exists... don't recall installing or doing anything that would
cause this..... Can you help?

Things I have tried with your help; nothing listed helped to date.

· Click on Start, click on Run and type the following in the textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press the Enter key.

· Un-installed the driver for the DVD-+RW/CD-RW drive, restated system(sony
Vaio PCv-RS613G /Windows XP Home addition with SP-2 installed, Norton system
works, Norton Internet security, balance came bundled with system.

· Tried to update the driver for this CD drive, no update was required.

· Right click on one photo.
Click on Open with on the opening menu.
Click on Choose program at the bottom of the opening list.
A new list will open, select what you want.

· Opened "my Pictures", under file and folder , clicked on "Copy this File"
box opens "copy Items", Click on my CD (drive G) and I get a warning
window "G:.is not accessible Incorrect Function"

· My Computer , clicked
on CD drive, then properties, screen that I get is "CD Drive (G:) Properties,
don't see a Recording tab,,, Tabs are "General", AutoPlay" and Hardware,,,
Note,, your note on using program such as Roxio,, I have and continue to be
able to write to this dirve with Drag'n Drop CD +DVD,and Click to DVD,, both
programs were included in the bundled software that came with the system

· What I can do is write to this drive using Drag n drop to CD/DVD, Ck to
DVD. Can read using Media Player

Help!

I read everything again. One thing surprises me. Your CD drive has the
letter G. This is quite high for a CD drive, unless you have several
partitions on your hard drive or some external hard drive.
Are you sure that you are right clicking on the correct drive and then to
Properties and then the Recording tab?. If you do so and you selected a
DVD-ROM drive instead of a CD-ROM drive, you will not see a Recording tab
(and this is what you are reporting). I received this message before "there
is no Recording tab" only to find out that this was a DVD-ROM drive, not a
CD-ROM drive that the person was right clicking on.
If this is a recent computer you may have a combo CD-DVD drive. It should
have a Recording tab. I have one of these and I can reset it from Roxio to
XP through the Recording tab.
Obviously the drive does work since Roxio will do the copying, but you
should be able to revert this drive to select XP to copy, unless the
manufacturer disabled this feature and this would surprise me.

FYI To Yves Alarie,,, just again wanted to thank you for all your help,,,
wanted to update you on what happened;;
Note; on 12 27 04 I down loaded recent updates from sony for ck to dvd, and
recovery wizard and some sp-2 updates, I Restart the Vaio using “Restartâ€
after installing these. I then check My Pictures to see if “copy to CD†was
there, it was not.
I then shut down my system over night. Started next morning, inserted a CD-R
to backup these sony files to disk, and guess what? All Copy to CD functions
were restored?? I had “CD writing Tasks†and “Write these Files to CDâ€,
opened My Pictures, and have “Copy all items to CD†was there.. is this magic
or what, these functions have been missing for over a month.!!! Again
thanks for your time, hope this input is some value in the future, I sure
don't understand what happened.
