Copy style (templates)

C.Heinrich

Hello,
i would like to know if there is a chance to copy a style (template)
(dont exactly know how its called, i have got german version of Word) or
better said only the settings of a style (i.e. bold, centered, and
indentation of 6pt) to a new style, without making the source style a
base for the new style (like it happens when you choose "Refresh, to
adept to selection" (dont know if thats the correct term for it, i mean
the last option when you right-click on a style in the
style-window/manager)?
it would save me a lot of work, because i have to re-create about 40
style (templates), and i need to assign them the attributes/formatting
of already existing styles (i could simply rename the old ones, but the
new styles have to be independent from the old ones and must not have
the old styles as base style! And the renaming even doesnt work for all
styles, but i shoud not be done this way either, because the old styles
should be obtained in the document!).

I would be REALLY thankful if somebody could help me!

C.H.

There is no built-in way to do this. There is a utility called WOPR which
does have this ability.

The cool thing about "Update to Match Selection" (which you absolutely
wouldn't guess from behavior of similar features in earlier versions) is
that you can select a paragraph in, say, Normal style, to which you have
applied direct formatting, and then click the arrow beside another style,
say Heading 1, and choose Update to Match Selection, and that style will be
updated to match the formatting of the selected text.
