copy option will not stay active--PPT 2007

On one computer I have the copy option will not stay active. When you
click beside a slide to copy the entire slide the cut/copy buttons are
active for just a second and then they ghost out. You can right click
and choose copy/cut but if you are not quick, the Ctrl-C & Ctrl-X and
the actual buttons become inactive. This has just started
happening. I have another computer with 07 on it and this does not
happen. I have compared all the settings I know to compare and they
are the same. Does anyone have any suggestions?

To copy a whole slide, click on the slide preview in the left pane. Clicking
into the blue area around the slide means nothing is selected and because
there's nothing to copy, the buttons are inactive. I have no idea, why it
works on the other computer (do you test it with the same presentation?).

Best regards,
Ute

Yes, but when you click it in the slide preview pane the copy but
becomes active but it immediately turns back to the "ghosted out"
state. You have to be very quick in order to copy it. The copy
button should stay active but it doesn't.

Is there some kind of PPT or Office add-in or copy utility on the problem
computer? That's where I'd start looking.

Which version of PPT, by the way?

If you go to Office Button | PPT Options | Add-ins, what's listed?
