Copy contact from one folder to another??

P

Pat P

I have two personal folders open in Outlook 2002, one is
older, the other is active.

I want to copy the CONTACT folder from the older PST into
the new one. I can copy it, but it either copies into a
subfolder of CONTACTS or I have to put it into a new
folder with a name other than CONTACTS (such as
CONTACTS1). I want the CONTACTS folder from the older pst
to be my new CONTACTS folder with the CONTACTS name.

Since this is a "required" folder, I cannot just delete
the empty CONTACT folder from the new pst file and rename
the CONTACTS1 folder to CONTACTS.

Does this make sense? Does anyone have any suggestions??

Many thanks in advance.

OK. I understand what you're saying. But, I highlight
the CONTACTS folder, select all the entries and copy. But
when I go to the folder in which I want to paste them, and
highlight it, paste is not an option.

What am I missing?

Thanks so much for your help!

Copy the contents of the folder, not the folder itself.

Why don't you use the "Copy to Folder" command?

That's a good idea. I couldn't find a "Copy to Folder"
command, but a "Move to Folder" option magically appeared
and worked beautifully!

Thank you for your help and patience!

Odd. You should have both commands in the Edit menu. Did you customize your
commands or toolbar?

You're right. They are BOTH on the edit menu. However, I
was just right clicking and using those options. And
the "move to" is the only option there.

I'll remember that in the future - maybe right click
options and edit options are not necessarily the same.

Many thanks again.

Also, if you R click and drag the selections, you'll get both the option to
Move and the option to Copy.
