copy a cpu

i got a new laptop i wanted to transfer all the settings and files from my
old laptop to the new one. i figured i could do it thru a USB connection to
both computers but how would i go about this. or any other suggestions???

usb will be very slow.
do you have network connectors on both laptops?

If both are running Windows XP, have you looked at using the Files and
Settings Transfer (FAST) Utility that is part of Windows?
