How do i get a copied excel document ( 46 lines in total) updated whenever
the original document is updated.

Please HELP!
I have a excel spreadsheet that i would like to use most of the data from to
produce another spreadsheet that i can use to forecast for the next financial
year and cannot remember how to link the two together so that whenever any
changes are made on the Unit sheet (original document) it is automatically
updated on my forecast sheet. I know roughly how to link but dont know how do
link a whole spreadsheet or 46 rows of data.

Can anyone please advise. many Thanks

Hi JaneAsh.

Try the following:-

1. Highlight the data that you wish to, "link" (your 46 lines).

2. CTRL-C (to copy the data).

3. Click on new Worksheet.

4. Home / Clipboard / Paste / Paste Link.

5. Anything that you update in number 1. above will now be automatically
updated in the new Worksheet (opened at number 3. above).

Thanks!

I have just put up a file for you on:-

www.pierrefondes.com

The file at the top of the home page is for you. Just check out Sheet2 and
Sheet3. I think these 2 sheets give you what you want.

You can ignore Sheet1.

Hi Trip_to_tokyo
Thanks for that I may be doing it wrong but the paste link button is not
highlighted when i try to link it. (paste special, Paste link not
highlighted) even when i do it by clipboard it doesnt come up.

I tried it previously but it kept coming up with Virtual memopry not enough>
do you think there may be restriction on software fron IT dept.

Jane, what you mention looks like a permissioning issue to me rather than a
memory issue.

Try the following:-

1. When you go into the new Worksheet right hand click once.

2. Paste Special.

3. Paste Link (lower right hand corner).

This is just a different route to what I gave you before.

It might work but somehow I think that you will run into the same problem
that you had before.

I do not think it is a memory issue because I have very little memory (256
MB) on the machine that I work on.

If it is a permissioning issue (which I think it is) somebody in your IT
Dept will have to give you them permission to be able to, "Paste Link",

Good luck!
