Coolscan 5000

A slide is 2" x 2". That's the whole slide, cardboard and film. A
normal 35 mm slide is 1 3/8" x 15/16" and the cardboard or plastic
makes up the rest of the 2 inches. My Coolscan 5000 is set up to scan
just a little beyond the length and height of slide film. But here is
my problem. I have some very important slides that are 2 x 2 but the
film is 1.75" x 1.75". I can't scan the WHOLE picture. Is the Super
Coolscan 5000 ED capable of scanning the whole picture?

AFAIK no. If the film is significantly larger than the standard 24x36mm you
will have to go with a medium format scanner.

The scan area is slightly larger than 35mm film, rectangular and one
orientation only.

It's not top secret, look here:
