Cookie manager?

K

Key-Bored

I clear my internet files every once in a while but I don't want to delete a
few cookies (google settings, yahoo mail, etc). Yet it's a pain in the ass
searching for each cookie to avoid deleting it.

Can anyone recommend a program where I can just choose which cookies to
delete and keep?

What is it?

Empty Temp Folders (emptemp) helps you manage folders that contain
temporary files, left over by other applications. It's easy to add any
folder and you can empty a folder (or all folders) with one click.

Also emptemp will let you list and delete cookies, history files and
temporary internet files (this requires MS Internet Explorer version 5+).

Emptemp also has a search function to let you find and delete temporary
files outside the normal temp folders. Any program can leave behind
temporary files or backup files anywhere on your harddisk. These files
have file types like .tmp, .bak, .old and .log. You can add your own file
types.

Emptemp also displays the amount of memory the content of the clipboard
takes up, and lets you delete it. And it can find broken shortcuts (.lnk
files) on your harddisk, so you can delete or fix them.

I use Cookiemonster from http://www.ampsoft.net/ (in the utilities
section) for this.

I agree that this one is good. I really like the configurability of
the program. However, it hasn't been updated by the author since March
16, 2003. This is unfortunate, because last year Finn sent me the beta
for version 2.9 and I've since been using it without any problems.

Another good program that's similar to EmptyTempFolders is Index.dat
Suite:

CookieWall
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/cookie.htm
Online privacy is a big deal these days, with huge companies being
formed every month to both protect and exploit information gathered
about you. By far the most common method used to track individuals on
the Internet is the 'Cookie', a small file stored on your machine with
information provided by a website... While the majority of the
websites out there use this tool as it was intended, more and more
are exploiting it in ways that were never
intended - that's where AnalogX CookieWall comes in.AnalogX CookieWall
allows you to quickly and easily decide which cookies can stay on your
system, and which cookies should go - once you let CookieWall know
which ones are unwelcome, it does the rest. CookieWall can be
configured
to delete cookies as soon as they arrive, to notify you of any new
ones, or just queue them up for you to check out at a later date.
CookieWall is currently only compatible with Microsoft Internet
Explorer or derived versions (such as NeoPlanet); Netscape support
should be available in the near future.

I use CookieWall in conjunction with my spyfile programs .
This is how it works .

Cookies come into the centre panel of CookieWall .

I run my spyfile cleaners and they tell me the badies ( don't delete
until you have all the info & finished below )
Go to Windows Explorer & locate Cookies , if more info is needed
..

I then use <<< to move them to the left hand side panel .

The balance of the cookies left in the middle , if you are 100% sure ,
they are good or you will need them in the future ( such as this
forum's cookie ) use the >>> to move them to the right hand
panel .

Any cookies left in the centre panel , that you are not sure of ,
click > Delete all new cookies from disk .

Setup .
Two ways , Start > All Programs > AnalogX , open CookieWall .
This will put it next to the time , right click on it & select
Configure
Make Auto start > Enabled & Monitor IE > Enabled .
New cookie action > None & Scan for cookies every > 60
seconds .

On reboot you will have the logo down next to the Time .
To make changes , right click on it & select Add/Delete .

Or ,

Open your Windows Explorer ( not Internet Exploer ) , go down to where
you install your programs .
Open AnalogX , double click the yellow logo Cookie.exe , this will put
it next to the time , right click on it & select Configure .
Now follow above instructions .

I find that the firefox extension cookie culler helps.

It can "protect cookies" with the option of clearing all cookies on
startup except the protected cookies. Useful if you like to keep some
cookies around while clearing the rest.

Your browser! Most browsers have some form of cookie management. In IE under
Tools>Internet Options...>Privacy>Advanced I have block 1st and 3rd party
cookies but allow session cookies. Under Tools>Internet Options...>Privacy>
Sites you can then add sites to allow cookies.
