converting WORD files to PDF and formatting getting changed

I am converting a 2-column document for a directory (names, addresses, phone
numbers and emails) to a PDF file. Every time I think I have the spacing
figured out (not splitting information for one family onto 2 columns or
pages), and create the PDF file, something else is off on another page. Why
doesn't the PDF file look like the original WORD document?

How are you converting to PDF? If you are printing to a PDF
virtual printer driver, then make that printer your default in
Windows, change to Print Layout view in Word, figure out the
spacing in Word, and print to PDF from Word. If you are using
the Adobe Acrobat PDFMaker toolbar button to make a PDF, then
make the Adobe Acrobat Distiller virtual printer driver as your
default in Windows, change to Print Layout view in Word, figure
out the spacing in Word, and make the PDF.
