Converting to NTFS from FAT32

I

Ironpumper

I am running W2K Pro. SP4 on a COMPAQ LAPTOP with a 20 Gig.
harddrive when I try to convert the C: using the convert
C: /fs:ntfs from command prompt it says

The type of the file system is FAT32.
Determining disk space required for file system
conversion...
Insufficient disk space for conversion
The conversion failed.
C: was not converted to ntfs

According to Q271644 installing latest updates should have
resolved the problem but it did not.

Also I only have 3.3 GiG used and have just over 15 Gig
free with a hidden partition for compaq tools and diag.

Hello,

There are several reason why Convert might not succeed even if there is
sufficient disk space.

Currently, Convert tries to ensure that it has:

- The last sector of the disk available for the NTFS boot sector mirror.

- Enough contiguous space for the MFT and MFT mirror at the end of the disk.

Thank You.
