Converting to NTFS cmd convert help is no help

Pete

I'm trying to convert to ntfs now that I erroneously re-
installed xp & forgot that ntfs is an option. Now I'm
stuck with the unstable fat 32.I really don't want to
wipe my drive clean & go through the hassle of re-
installing all of my programs.I tried running cmd, convert
& it keeps asking me for the current drive label of
c: .Needless to say I thought the label was c:,the only
other thing would be the hard drives ID number under c:'s
properties.I thought there was a nice, neat button to
convert like in windows 98.Of course Microsoft will not
help me without charging me $35 per incident. They only
give you 5 calls, lol.I guess Bill Gates can't afford to
support his product. How many billions that guy makes a
year & whines about a few pirated windows 98 copies! He's
worse than Mettalica & nabster.Any way I don't want him
to sell off his yacht to answer my question,so with that
can anyone answer my question??My e-mail is
(e-mail address removed) can only wait 24 hrs for a
response because this is driving me nuts!My comp is
crashing left & right because all my programs are geared
for ntfs.I cannot live another day with this thing
running so poor.I'd like a fairly easy answer because
although I build systems I am hardware fluent but
software mediocre.

Your drive might not have a label

In any case, go to a dos prompt and type in label

it will tell you the label name

You can set or change the label by typing

label C MyNewLabel

Have you tried searching XPs Help and Support for "convert". A typical
command would be "convert e: /fs:ntfs" (without the quotes) followed by any
switches you need to apply.

Ah, the impatience of today's society. I want it fixed now and not
have any wait...tell me how, don't teach me...etc, etc.

The convert command will work just fine from the CLI window. If it's
asking you for the disk label, ask yourself if you ever provided one.
If not, just hit return. Convert won't do anything on your drive
until you reboot.
