Converting PPS to PPT

Is there a way to take an existing PPS and convert it to
a PPT file for editing? It seems we've lost the original
PPT file, and only have the PPS.

Change the extension from .pps to .ppt in Windows Explorer. there is no
difference in the presentation, only the way that it opens.
