Converting .MOV to .avi

I need to convert a 2 minute Quicktime video of my granddaughter from my
digital camera to .avi format to enable her parents to see it.

Could someone point me to the source of a free (and easy to use!)
converter please.

I've downloaded Rad Video Tools and had a play. The conversion seems to
go OK but the results are a little jerky. Is this to be expected?
