Converting from Word Perfect to Microsoft Word

Forgive me for being niave and computer illiterate, but I
need help understanding why I cannot open Word documents
attached to my incoming e-mails. I have Word Perfect
installed on my computer.

Is there a way to convert from Word to Perfect? Or, do I
need to consider buying Microsoft Word? If I buy Word --
how do I convert all my old documents that I might need
in the future?

You can download a Word file viewer for free from Microsoft's web site.
However, recent versions of WP open Word documents, I believe. If the
version of Word is newer than your version of WP, though, it may give you a
problem.
