Word Perfect Converters

My boss works in Word Perfect 5.1 DOS. He opens these documents in Word to
send them to us via e-mail. Since the doc was opened in Word it would send it
to us in Word in the send to recipient as attachment option. For some reason,
all of a sudden, it has started sending the files as .dat files. Don't know
why it started doing this but I need to figure out the settings I need to
change. Any suggestions? I have all downloaded all the converters that I
could find and so far none of them has fixed the problem. Thanks for any help
you can give.

Sounds like the issue is with your the bosses Outlook...not Word. See:

It is already set to plain text. When he opens the doc in word, he has always
been able to send it in that format without saving it as a word document
since he works in word perfect DOS. After sending the document, he closes
word and on the do you want to save option, says no so it reverts back to his
word perfect file type. I can get past it by opening the doc, then save as,
then send but that put the doc on his system twice.
