convert wmv to DVD

Hello,

I produce a movie in moviemaker 2.1 and I want to export to DVD. I
understand that I need a converter program to convert in MPG2 or save the
movie as AVI format. The AVI format does not work, because the file is too
big (3 GB), even when I have 6 GB free space and a 3 GB paging file.
I also tried this option with a smaller file, and the audio quality was
terrible this way.

Anyway. I have the following questions:
What program converts the wmv file in a good quality for DVD converting? The
one I used was poor quality (AVI MPEG Video Converter).
Any hints for improving the situation is welcome.

Hello,

1st the page file has the ability to handle TWO pages of memory and requires a
little more for administration...so if you have 512MB of RAM you need at most a
page file of just over 1GB. Creating a page file that is larger is simply a
waste of hard drive and the additional work the CPU has to do whilst managing
it.....

2nd, saving to WMV and hoping to convert to MPeg without quality loss is a no
go. You would be taking a compressed format file, expanding it to the
equivalent of a RAW file and then re-compressing it to Mpeg

To get the best quality of MPeg you need to consider buying a program that does
it....there is a licence fee you see, that's why the best converters cost.
There are a few converters that are free, you will find them by going to my
website and clicking on GREAT LINKS > KNOWLEDGE BASE > VIDEO HELP.....basically
what you do there is a what if scenario and the result is a list of links to
what's out there....its possibly the best resource you will ever find on the
net for this type of stuff.

I am told that here in the UK one of the computer mags is giving away MyDVD
free on the cover disk...I can't remember the name of the mag....but that would
surely be a place to also look.
