Convert PDF to Word Format

I have a file that is in .pdf format and it's opening in Adobe Acrobat 6.0.
I want to convert it to a Word file so I can modify the text. When I do a
"save as" and save it as a Rich Text or a .doc file format, it's saved as an
image and I cannot modify the text at all. What do I do?

Thank you, Karen

If the PDF file was created from a word processor (Word,
WordPerfect, etc.) file, then saving as .rtf or .doc will give
you editable text. But if the PDF file was created from scanning
printed pages into PDF format, then saving as .rtf or .doc will
give you uneditable images.

That's what the mail order prescription company we have to use does. What a
pain in the heinie!

Then it could be that the document was not a Word document when converted to
a .pdf. Care to shoot it over to me and let me see if I can do anything with
it?

A good OCR application should be able to deal with this. Finereader is by
far the best of those that I have used.
The corporate version also has a brilliant form filling module for those
scanned forms :)
