Convert FAT32 to NTFS

F

----Fred----

Hello,

I converted FAT32 to NTFS using the command line tool.
However, my disk access time is much longer now. My
programs seem to take a long time to open.

I have a Maxtor 40GB HD and the cluster size is 512kB

Any Ideas?

Have you tried running the Disk Defragmenter to defragment the hard disk?
Disk performance can be affected if files on hard disk drive are severely
fragmented.

512 KB cluster size affects performance. Preferably you should
have a partition with 4K clusters. In some cases even larger size
clusters are an advantage ( Music, Video - Large files). My music
collection resides on a partition that uses 64K clusters.

Cluster resizing can be done by Partition Magic 8.0 and some
other disk utilities.
