Convert drop-downs to text

Ron Torres

I have developed a rather complex (to me anyway) template
that includes numerous drop-down boxes. When I am
finished with the document (about 9 pages), I want to
supply my client with an electronic copy. However, I
consider my template proprietary and don't wish to give my
clients the document with drop-downs. I want to convert
all the text in all the drop-downs to regular text so the
client will get a clean document with no drop-downs. (I
also don't want the client to be able to modify the
document. I know how to protect the document so that they
can open it and print it when needed, but so that they
can't modify it.) I just don't want the client to receive
the document with all the drop-downs on it. How do I
convert the drop-downs to regular text?

Hi Ron,

If you remove the protection from the form and then select everything and
press Ctrl+Shift+F9, that will unlink the formfields and convert them to
ordinary text.

If you then re-protect the document with a password, you will make it
difficult, though not impossible for the user to modify it.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested. Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.

Hope this helps
