Some spyware WildTangent got installed. I removed yet it remains a line in
the control panel. How can I remove this line. I searched the registry and
hard drive and can't find any reference to it. Thanks Jeff

Search your C:\WINDOWS folder for files with the .CPL
extension. MAKE SURE YOU DELETE THE CORRECT ONE! Get the
properties for the file and select the Version tab!

WildTangent is not really spyware. It gets installed when you play
games through your browser at www.wildtangent.com.

I've removed that from several machines, but I don't believe that I
ever saw "a line in the control panel" (though I'm not entirely sure
what you mean by that).

I do know however that the uninstalls I've done have left folders on
the drive that you need to delete manually.

Oh, and by the way, I do remember....

Wildtangent probably was set to start with your computer. There was an
icon in the system tray for it, wasnt' there?

If what you mean by a line in the control panel really is that there
is still a line for that in the Add/Remove programs... then consider
this --> you cannot delete or uninstall a program that is running. To
correctly uninstall you need to shut the program down first.

Thanks, Adaware removed it so I put it back and went to ad remove and
uninstalled the right way and it removed it from the control panel. Jeff
