control panel not responding

i cant access any options under my control panel for windows xp. all i get is
a not responding note

Suggestion:

Go to the following website and scroll down to Line 256, left column. Click
the "Restore the Control Panel" link to download the reg file. Double click
the downloaded file to merge into the registry.
