I've seen a few posts regarding this error message:
To enable the advanced sound effect for gaming, please
make sure the setting of the Hardware Acceleration
is "full". the directory is as below:
Control Panel -> Multimedia/(Win98)/Sound &
Multimedia/Win200,Me)/Sounds & Audio Device(WinXP) ->Audio
->Playback/Advanced ->Performance ->Harware Acceleration.
I saw no solutions posted, but I recently solved the issue on one of
the systems I was building. The perhaps relevant parts of the system
consisted of:
Intel 3.0GHz P4
Abit IS7-E mainboard
1GB Corsair RAM "PC3200"
Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
SB Audigy2 Platinum
When the Audigy2 drivers were removed, the error message left as well.
I ran msinfo32 and discovered that the onboard sound was using the
same IRQ as the Audigy2. I had intended to use the onboard sound for
a separate purpose, but just for kicks, I disabled it via the device
manager.
The error messages then ceased.
I hope this will be of some value to others experiencing this problem.
