When I click on the File Types tab and scroll down to TIF, the details
state, "You have customized files with extension 'TIF'. To restore these
files to their default type (Ulead PhotoImpact), click Restore."

There is no explanation as to how/what the customization is and what would
be changed if I clicked Restore. I note up above that it says, "Opens with:
Windows Picture & Fax Viewer" and I can click Change if I want to change
that, so I'm not sure what the Restore will do. Is there any way to tell
what "You have customized files with extension 'TIF'" specifically refers
to?

Jack - it is confusing but nothing to worry about. I"ll try to explain with
an example : Say you install a photo program titled A - which when
installing sets JPG files to open with A.
However you decide to have JPG files open with a Windows viewer named B -
when you change the association from A to B you will now see ""You have
customized files with extension 'JPG'. To restore these
files to their default type (A), click Restore."
All it does is give an opportunity to"undo" the change.

Did you use the "Open with" dialog to associate the file type with an
application? The "Restore" button resets that preference, and uses the
central file association settings.
