I am not sure what is going on with my computer, but here goes - I was having problems with some pop-ups & spy ware downloaded on to my computer, so I downloaded ad-aware & spybot - to remove the spy ware on my computer - which it seems to have worked, but now my system seem to run really slow - specifically - control panel, Internet Explorer, and my computer seem to take for ever to load up, and I can't find what is going on - I have even uninstalled the ad-aware & spybot programs, yet it is still running slow - not everything is doing this just seems to be these portions. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi Mike,

Uninstalling those programs won't help. Did you save the log files to see
exactly what was deleted by them? I have an edit that may help, however,
try running a virus scan and SFC (Start/Run/CMD/SFC /Scannow) first. Good
luck!

Kelly,

I ran my norton virus software, and scanned the entire
system, but it didn't find anything. I am not sure what
you mean "SFC (Start/Run/CMD/SFC /Scannow)". If you
could maybe detail this more that would be great - thanks
for your help!

Hi Mike,

Try the edit on line 157
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

If that doesn't help, run Doug's Startup Tracker from here and send me the
log file via email: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_u.htm#xp_util

As for the beforementioned: Go to Start, then Run and type in: CMD, then
SFC /Scannow.

Good luck!

If none of the above helps, run these two:
