Control archiving via policy

Has any one tried to set the archive options via a policy? If yes? would you
mind outlining the process?
If no? What would be the easiest way to prevent users from archiving their
email to PSTs?

If you use the DisablePST registry entry described in the MSKB, it disables
archving, as well as much (but not all) other .pst use. I could get it to
work only in HKLM on the local machine, not as a policy, though.

Sue,
For business reasons, I need to completely disable all .pst use in Outlook
2003. The DisablePST registry entry, as you said, disables some but not all
..pst use. Users cannot create a new .pst or use autoarchive, but they can
open an existing .pst from File...Open...Outlook Data File. Is there any way
to disable this during an Outlook 2003 deployment?

Thanks!

You can use Group Policy Objects in Active Directory to disable the File |
Open | Outlook Data File command or any other toolbar or menu command. That
will still leave one .pst avenue open -- writing code using the
Namespace.AddStore method. There's no way to block that.
