If you just want Task Manager... press: CTRL-SHIFT-ESC (hold down all 3 at
the same time)

What happens if you go to Start | Run and type in regedit, click ok.
Does the registry editor open? And try Start | Run, type in msconfig,
the click ok. Does msconfig open? If neither regedit or msconfig work
then this indicates a virus infection.

Right-click on the the task bar, choose Task Manager.

Many viruses disable the Ctrl-Alt-Delete combination so you can't get see
them running.

Spyware is one condition where Ctrl+Alt+Del will not work.

Can you right-click on the Taskbar and click Task Manager to open Task
Manager? If not, this may be caused from spyware.

Jeff,

You may want to try this if none of the other suggestions work for you.

Open Registry Editor and navigate to:

HKCU \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies\ System

In the right-pane, double-click DisableTaskMgr and set it's data to 0

If you do not have a DisableTaskMgr option, create a new DWORD Value by
right clicking and select new "DWord Value" and name it DisableTaskMgr and
give it a value of 0.

Setting the value to 0 enables the Task Manager to work.
Setting the value to 1 disables the Task Manager.

You would want to set the value to 0.

Alt.
