Control/Alt/Delete doesnt work

S

Steve Butler

I cant access the task manager. Something has disabled it completely. I
have installed the fix provided by Doug Knox when it said Task Manager
Disabled by your administrator. The fix worked but now when I try
Control/Alt/Delete nothing happens at all. So I installed
xp_emegencyutil.exe which gives me a copy of taskmanager.exe. and this
works. However, there has to be something wrong. Control/Alt/Delete does
not work. I am concerned that I have a virus that has disabled the task
manager and is running unforseen. I dont know what processes should or
should not be running. Do I need to reformatt my entire hard drive again?
Can anyone please help.

Steve Butler
I am running Win XP Home Edition

Thanks

Steve,

Before you re-format your hard drive have you tried to right-click your task
bar? This has always worked for me to bring up the task manager. Also have
you run your anti-virus program? If you don't have one I suggest for a quick
or long term fix AVG from grisoft.com it's free and installs in minutes. Jsut
a suggestion. Good luck.
