Who knows what my daughter did to her computer but Win2000 just keeps
rebooting to the startup screen. Any suggestions short of reformating the
hard drive?

Thank you for any recommendations and/or suggestions.

Have you checked for the Sasser virus and it's variants? Run all windows
updates and update your anti-virus software and scan the system.

Thank you for responding. I am unable to get past the original windows 2000
boot up screen to even access the internet. I did boot up with norton disk
and ran a scan with no viruses present. Any idea how to get past the
actually booting up?

Try a safe or vga mode boot.

Yep that's what I would do, Just in case you don't know how. Reboot the
computer after system post press sometimes hold the <f8> key. select safe
mode. or boot last known good. check for sasser or rpc worms. www.nai.com can
help with free utilities that will dispose of various worms.
