My computer starts to boot, gets to a blue screen of
death and reboots..... over and over and over. I had
tried to fix a problem by doing this.... (from Jeff
Levy's site) The only thing that I did different was that
I did not enter a user name and password because I never
had one to start with. Instead of entering a username and
password, I hit enter.
"ELIMINATE HAVING TO SELECT A USER AND PASSWORD
WHEN YOU START WINDOWS XP
If you install all of the recommended Windows updates,
you
may have to select a user account and enter a password
before
you can log onto Windows. Some people just enter the
information
and move on. I think it's a pain in the but. Here's how
you can
eliminate the problem.
You have to be logged on with Administrator privileges.
Click on
Start, Run, then type "control userpasswords2" (without
the
quotes). The User Accounts dialog box will open. You
will see
a checkmark next to Users Must Enter A User Name And
Password
To Use This Computer. Click on and remove that check
mark.
Click on Apply. The Automatically Log On dialog box will
open.
Enter the user name and password of the account you want
to
start automatically when you log onto Windows. Click OK.
How, when you start your computer, the user name you
selected
will open, no password entry required."
