Follow-up on a post from last week: Recently I tried to
download QuickTime. The download failed, and subsequently
when I would boot the computer I would get an error
message referring to a "bad image" from QuickTime. I did
a full uninstall of QuickTime which resolved the error
message, but now my computer takes several extra minutes
to fully boot up and load. The desktop comes up in the
same amount of time, but I can't open anything until a
lengthy wait. Upon advice from this newsgroup, I ran all
the disk checks, Windows repair (through Norton System
Works), defrag, etc. I also have now successfully
installed Quick Time. Unfortunately, no change in the
lengthy boot time. Did a necessary file get removed when
I did the full uninstall of QuickTime? Somebody please
help - I don't want this to be a permanent condition!
